Features

Named after the Sicilian port city of Marsala, the liqueur wine Marsala was originally fortified to preserve it for transport by ship to England. "Forcing up" means that distilled alcohol is added to the grape mash during fermentation, which stops fermentation and preserves the residual sweetness of the grapes. A Marsala enriched in this way must mature for at least one year (Marsala Fine), at least two years (Superiore), three years (Superiore Riserve), five or even ten years in oak or cherry wood barrels. What a harmonious unity the fruity notes of this liqueur wine and a Whisky from the best Bavarian barley is shown by the example of this finish variant.

After three years in American white oak casks, the malt is transferred to casks that previously aged Marsala. The fruit aromas of the wine find their way into the malt via these barrels Whisky and combine with its malt notes.
